ATS Software: Stealthy Tips for Success
We’ve heard the age old advice telling us to always tailor your resume and cover letter to the specific company and job position you’re applying to. But of course, if you’re a frantic job seeking graduate like me aiming to meet a personal quota of 5-6 job applications a day, sometimes that advice just isn’t that efficient. I’m personally guilty of sending more than one of the same cover letter to multiple companies because really now, who writes 5-6 entirely new cover letters each day?!
Well, hard working Applicants, I have some new news for you on working the system! Mashable just recently posted an article revealing some interesting new information Applicant Tracking System used by most employers to filter through their hundreds of applicants. In addition to the typical advice like adding specific keywords into your application that are on the job posting and really emphasizing skills that are related to the position you’re applying for, my favorite tip was this:
“Add additional instances of keywords from the job posting to your resume in white font. The additional instances of the keywords won’t be visible when recruiters read the resume, but they increase the likelihood that the resume will be tagged as a good fit by search tools.”
Sneaky, aren’t they? I don’t know about you but I’m ready to give this tip a shot and type up white fonted key words all over the margins of my resume!
Happy job hunting,
Denise
